Passport night!!

Hello all!

Next Thursday from 5:00 to 6:30 we will be having our Passport Night.  The whole school is taking part!  K-1 will be representing Italy.  All parents are welcome to bring a dish that represents our country of ITALY!  You can bring your dish with you at 5:00 and set it out in the Cafeteria...just look for our ITALY sign!  From 5-6 everyone can walk around the school and go into the different classrooms and see what they have on display for their countries.  Then at 6:00 everyone will join in the cafeteria and sample foods from all the different countries.  PTO meeting starts at 6:30.

Hope to see you there!!

Cold Weather Days

The days are getting COLDER....

The cold weather is here folks!!  Please know that your child will still be going outside for recess even as the weather gets cold.  Please make sure they come prepared for the cold weather with all the necessities: warm coat, hat, gloves, etc.

Thanks everyone!!

**Also, now would be a great time to remind your child to take responsibility of their belongings.  They often take off their coat on the playground if it warms up...which often leads to them forgetting it out there!  Once we are back in the classroom, I cannot leave to get it for them! Please remind them to either keep their coat on or remember to take it back to the classroom:)

Book Suggestions for 1st Grade

Hello Parents and Happy Monday!!

I wanted to give you all a few suggestions as to what books your children may want to read.  Many of our children are interested in chapter books so I wanted to include some good series books!  I'm also going to talk with Ms. Birman, our librarian, to see if she may have any other suggestions.

Junie B. Jones - popular for girls and boys
Magic Tree House - great adventure series
Goosebumps - only if the readers are okay with slight violence and scary/mystery themes (this series might be inappropriate for some)
Ready Freddy series - if girls like Junie B. Jones, then girls and boys will like Ready Freddy
Horrible Harry series - similar to Junie B. Jones
Judy Moody - for slightly advanced readers at a 3rd grade level
My Weird School Daze - humor and school genre
Wayside School - humor and school genre
Rainbow Magic - fantasy/adventure - only for advanced readers. The reading range varies from third to fourth grade level
